A double CD recorded in Barbican Centre, London in early 1990. Appearing on this recording is Pandit Ravi Shankar with his late son Shubho Shankar on sitar and the great Kathak Dancer, late Durga Lal on pakhawaj (a barrel drum). Four ragas are featured: "Jhinjhoti," "Khamaj," "Bihag," and "Pancham Se Gara." A disciple of Allauddin Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar is arguably the best-known Indian instrumentalist, and is well known for his pioneering work in bringing the power and appeal of the Indian classical music tradition, as well as Indian music and its performers in general, to the West.
